The FPA is the foremost advocate for the financial planning profession and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals. The organization actively promotes the legislative, regulatory and professional interests of the financial services industry before Congress, all 50 state legislatures, and federal and state regulators.

The Government Relations Department of the FPA provides the following services to local chapters and individual members:

  • Keeps local chapters and individual members informed of current trends and changes in compliance requirements, particularly in the securities area.
  • Coordinates comment and lobbying efforts with local FPA groups on issues of state interest.
  • Promotes best compliance procedures for the financial planning profession.
  • Provides assistance in helping members more fully understand their compliance needs.
